About Shanuk & Nikelal

Shanuk

Shanuk is the founder of Sweet Saplings Community. He was inspired to help kids in Sri Lanka speak English based on a mentoring partnership between his mom and a university student in Sri Lanka. Shanuk values education very much and believes a good education will help you attain your future goals and do good to society. For children in underprivileged areas in Sri Lanka he strongly feels that being able to understand and speak English should be a critical component in their learning journey as it would open doors for these children to pursue their dreams within and outside of Sri Lanka.

Shanuk enjoys basketball, tennis, swimming, yoga, traveling and learning mathematics and computer science.

Nikelal

Nikelal is the co-founder of Sweet Samplings Community. She is passionate about helping other people and making others feel happy. She is very creative and loves arts and crafts.

She enjoys swimming, drawing and planning activities such as toy drives and fundraisers. Nikelal's favorite color is gold and she hopes to get a cat one day.
